What we do in Rally Obedience/Level II obedience
This course is a logical next step for people and their dogs who've completed Basic or Puppy manners and would like to keep going. This course includes more precise obedience skill building and is also an introduction to Rally Obedience. If you have not taken Basic or Puppy Manners at 5 Star but your dog has a good understanding of basic obedience, you can join this class too. Just mention in the "comment" field in the enrollment form, the level of your dog's obedience training and where you took any previous classes.
In Rally Obedience the dog/handler teams learn advanced heeling skills and combine those with both traditional and non-traditional obedience moves. A Rally course consists of several (usually 18-22) numbered stations; at each station there is a Rally sign indicating exactly which skills the team must demonstrate. The challenge is for the handler/dog team to move from station to station in sequence and perform the behaviours indicated with as few errors as possible within a limited time. In an upbeat, happy manner, of course!
Rally Obedience is suited to dogs and handlers of all ages and levels of fitness. Even handicapped dogs can participate. Improve your relationship with your dog through Rally O and have lots of fun in the process. Whether you are training your pooch for competition or just want to have some fun with the family pet, Rally O has a lot to offer!
If you are interested in learning more about Rally Obedience, you will find that the Canadian Association of Rally Obedience website has lots of information.
